Ordnance Survey: Discovery For New Revenue Driving Products

The Brief
We collaborated with Ordnance Survey’s digital team to conduct in-depth product discovery, aiming to identify unmet needs across key business groups that could benefit from leveraging their mapping data. After uncovering several promising opportunities, we worked to define these potential digital services by developing rapid prototypes and testing them with representative samples of potential future customers.

What We Did

  1. User Testing Recruitment
    We sourced user research participants from hard-to-reach professional sectors, including construction, architecture, and civil engineering.
  2. Rapid Prototyping
    Led cross-functional teams to respond to user insights by developing interactive prototypes of the proposed features.
  3. Product Roadmapping & Strategy
    Compiled our findings and prototypes into a series of strategic documents for the Ordnance Survey board, providing clear next steps for the next stage of development.

Result
Our work enabled Ordnance Survey’s commercial team to make a strategic decision, resulting in the commitment to a multi-million-pound underground assets mapping project, which is now progressing through development.
